A poster from the STAIRS PRESS Photography Poster Series featuring the photographic work “Burning In The Stone Beppu, 2021” by photographer Yan Chaofan. This monochrome photograph, taken in Beppu, Oita Prefecture, in December 2021, is printed in a landscape format.
It captures a white goat standing beside a tree trunk in a grassy area. The ground occupies most of the frame, while the goat, the tree, and the surrounding space form a quiet relationship.
“Burning In The Stone” is a series of works in which Yan explores the memories of places and his own inner emotions through landscapes encountered while traveling. The figure of an animal met in an ordinary place also records a scene from his journey.
