Kishin Shinoyama's "hair". A photobook compiling color works focusing on female pubic hair, published in 1994 as part of Shinchosha's "PHOTO MUSEE" series. This item is the first edition, issued on October 15, 1994.
What appears on the screen is primarily the body below the navel and pubic hair. Elements that identify the person, such as the face or chest, are mostly excluded, placing "hair" itself, a part of the body, at the center of the photograph. The same subject is repeatedly photographed, varying the lighting, background, body orientation, and distance.
In the early 1990s, so-called "hair nudes" became a big topic in Japan, and the situation surrounding bodily expression in photographic expression and publishing also changed. This book is a collection of works from that era, titled simply "hair," which exclusively features close-up shots of pubic hair compiled into a single volume.
