BACON ICE CREAM (Signed)

Yoshiyuki Okuyama's photo book "BACON ICE CREAM" is a compilation of works photographed over approximately five years, published by PARCO Publishing in 2015. The following year, in 2016, a large-scale photo exhibition of the same name, "BACON ICE CREAM," was held at Parco Museum. This particular item is signed by Yoshiyuki Okuyama on the endpaper.

Various scenes encountered in daily life, such as streets, interiors, people, food, plants, and reflections of light, appear one after another. Rather than giving a clear narrative to the photos, the arrangement of images taken in different places and times connects colors, shapes, light, and the presence of people across the pages.

It includes photographs taken in parallel with portraits, snapshots, and fashion and advertising work. Scenes that seem to have been stumbled upon by chance and scenes that appear to have been intentionally constructed coexist, creating a composition that moves back and forth between these boundaries.

According to the publisher's introduction, Okuyama picks up fragments of the world scattered around him from a consistent viewpoint, regardless of location or time. This book does not converge photos on a single theme but traces the world that Yoshiyuki Okuyama saw during this period through images accumulated over five years.

Yoshiyuki Okuyama (Okuyama, Yoshiyuki) 1991–

Born in Tokyo in 1991. Film director, photographer.

Began photography production while in university, and in 2011, received the 34th New Cosmos of Photography Excellence Award. In 2012, published the photo book "Girl." Since then, he has been active in a wide range of fields including advertising, magazines, fashion, music, and video, in parallel with photo book production.

In 2015, he published "BACON ICE CREAM," and the following year, in 2016, held an exhibition of the same name at Parco Museum. In the same year, he received the 47th Kodansha Publishing Culture Award for Photography. His photo books include "As the Call, So the Echo," "POCARI SWEAT," "The Good Side," "flowers," "windows," and "BEST BEFORE."

In recent years, he has also been active as a film director, releasing "At the Bench" in 2024 and "5 Centimeters Per Second" in 2025. He continues to produce works in both photography and film.
