A collection of essays on photography that re-examines what photography is and what it means to see. This is one volume in the Photo Livre series, which explores thought surrounding photographic expression by traversing criticism, literature, art, and philosophy.
Does photography capture reality, or does it deviate from it? In this book, Shino Kuraishi re-examines existing understandings of photography by referencing photographic expressions and the practices of photographers since the modern era.
Beyond merely explaining the history and techniques of photography, the content unfolds a contemplation on the act of seeing photographs itself, making it a highly insightful read for those who wish to consider photography as an expressive medium.
